Best Year Yet

I have had quite an amazing handful of years… I married my high school in 2012 [dream come true]. I was then able to visit 15 countries over 4 separate trips in the following few years. This was truly magical and such a dream! I love gallivanting through cobblestone streets while eating and drinking the most delectable items I had ever tasted! Each year just seemed to get better and better….

But then 2016 happened and it has been my best year yet.

I became a mom this year. It has been a whirlwind of amazing exhaustion and pure joy.

I have always dreamed of starting a family and being a mama someday, but nothing quite prepares you like being thrown right into it! We took our little lady home 5 short hours after she was born 11 months ago. While it was nerve wracking I wouldn’t have it any other way. Being able to come home and be alone as a family that evening was simply amazing.

Anyways, this year has been the BEST and HARDEST of my 28 years. It has been full of sleepless nights and laughter that is more contagious than a yawn. I have fallen in love with out little girl. She has completely stolen my heart and is our greatest blessing. I have also loved watching my husband become a father. It has softened him so much that he’s pretty much mush at this point 🙂 Adeline has him wrapped around her tiny little finger. I have fallen in love with him in a whole new way this past year. With all of the joy there has also been hardship. Taking on this new role has been difficult to master at times, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

There are other wonderful things that came from this year… My little sister got married and what a celebration that was! I gained a brother-in-law from this festive event and I couldn’t be more excited. He is a man who loves without reserve and I am so happy that my sister found such a man to spend her life with.

in 2016 I learned that my life is not my own. I am now responsible for the life of another and while that is terrifying, it is also the most beautiful lesson to have learned.

So, on this New Years Eve we made a pallet on the floor with pillows and blankets and snuggled together and watched Storks [so cute…. def recommend it!] and now veryone is snug in bed while me this sleep deprived night owl writes out a few thoughts.

I may not have taken any big trips this year, but we embarked on our biggest adventure yet and I cannot wait to see what 2017 has in store for us.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!
