Happy Easter to all!!
Easter is a day for celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I am more thankful than words can ever describe for all that Jesus has done! His sacrifice is unlike any other and I am truly grateful and in awe. HE is RISEN!
This time of year also bring memories of joy as I often spent it surrounded by family as we colored eggs, hunted for them, and sat down to count our ‘treasures’…
My moms parents lived on a ranch in Raton, New Mexico and my dads lived in Portales, New Mexico. We had numerous Easter adventurous at both places and what an exciting time it was! Hunting for the eggs and sitting down with my little sister afterwards to see what we had gathered… It was as if we had won the lottery, instead of a few dollars and some candy! We would even trade our treasures! After awhile our family gatherings grew when my cousins were born and sometimes my dads parents would come to my moms parents ranch and we would have a huge Easter gathering! I absolutely love family times like this and treasure these memories more than words can say!
I was thrilled when my dad sent me these silly old photos that he found while cleaning out my grandparents house recently. I am SO thankful that photographs have always been an important in my family and that I have these images to keep forever.
It’s funny that at the time what was inside the eggs was the most exciting thing, but today the photos taken of those days are the true treasures.
When I asked my dad what he remembered about those times, he said “I remember you being so excited about hunting for Easter eggs! Especially the first time when you were just a toddler and the eggs were “hidden” in the grass and you would be so happy and have such a look of accomplishment on your face when you found one!”
The innocence of a child is truly beautiful. Imagination is soaring and anything is possible! If only as adults we could somehow hold on to that spirit of dreaming and chasing them with no reserve. We grow up and get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday lives that we tend to lose sight of what truly matters and that is PEOPLE! The people in our lives are what matters the most… Not how nice our house is, what kind of car we drive or how much money we have. It’s about the people and the time spent loving and serving them. Not just at special occasions, but every single day! It’s easy to think we have all the time in the world and can ‘get to it tomorrow’, but that is far too often not the case and an unfortunate way to live. Don’t put off what matters most until tomorrow…
DREAM BIG + LOVE PEOPLE
He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” Matthew 28:6-10
