Kate and Evan are two of the kindest people I have had the pleasure of working with! They were incredibly joyful and excited the entire day and their happiness radiated from their faces from beginning to end!

Enjoy some of my favorites from their special day…

Kate and Evan’s first look was magical! A truly intimate moment for the two of them!

I love shooting in the meadow at Wild Basin Lodge! The views are spectacular and with the aspens turning a hint of yellow, it couldn’t have gotten any better!

Kate and Evan had a very personal ceremony that was led by a close family member of Kate. Here is an excerpt from their ceremony on how they met…

“Kate and Evan’s meeting in 2011 can only be described as kismet, considering the trajectories of these two and the likelihood of meeting in New York City. Kate had gone to Princeton, graduated with a degree in history, and moved to Washington DC where she worked in historic preservation before deciding to move to New York City and pursue a counseling degree at Columbia University.

Evan, on the other hand, graduated from the University of Florida with a degree in criminology, changed careers in order to become an actor-slash-model (and not the other way around), which he would then give up for the more stable career of NYC science teacher. It was at his first job that he met Kate, who, at the time, was interning there as part of her counseling degree.

Although they had caught each other’s eye early in the year, they did not get a chance to get to know each other until the holiday party. They spent many hours talking, and shared a taxi to drop Kate off at her place. It was here, at the corner of 108th and Broadway, that they shared their first kiss and Evan made his first promise: “I promise you, we are going for the long-term here”.  After almost 4 years of dating, most of which were spent living together in a tiny little Bleecker Street apartment, they did not break this promise. (And it was tiny!)”

One of my very favorite moments from their wedding was when Evan was dancing with his mom during the mother-son dance and they looked over to see Kate watching and crying… Evans mom reached out an arm as a gesture for Kate to join them. When she did they all wrapped their arms around each other for a few moments. This brought me to tears. What a truly beautiful representation of love and acceptance. Two families coming together and joining isn’t always an easy mix, but in this moment I was overjoyed for Kate and Evan at the love they have surrounding them. It was truly a beautiful moment to witness.

How did you get engaged?

We got engaged on August 24, 2014. It was a complete surprise to me! Evan and I had come to visit my parents during the previous April, and we had attempted to hike up to Alberta Falls in Rocky Mountain National Park together. Unfortunately, we didn’t realize there was a different winter trail, and after many miles in the snow, we gave up. We arranged what I thought was just going to be another regular visit to see my parents at the end of August, and we decided to give the Alberta Falls trail another try. Once we reached the falls, Evan and I climbed up to a rock near the top for a photo – and then he surprised me with his proposal. He also secretly arranged for his parents to fly in from New York to celebrate, and they met us at the bottom of the trail head with champagne (they were originally going to be at the falls, but his mom had broken her foot a month earlier!).

What made you decide on Wild Basin Lodge?

It was such a gorgeous setting, and it had the rustic feel we were looking for in our wedding venue. The staff was also amazing, and made us feel at home from the beginning!

We had the most amazing weekend with our family and friends, and couldn’t be happier with how it all turned out!
