Black Canyon Inn is such a breathtaking place. The views are stunning and it’s such a relaxing and secluded venue. I love documenting love stories in this magical setting!

Zach and Danielle had planned to do a first look moment where Zach was blindfolded so he wouldn’t actually see her, but they wanted to have a moment to themselves before the ceremony. I got Zach positioned on the little island at Black Canyon Inn, helped him get his blindfold on, and then headed to get Danielle. As I started walking back up to the condo to grab her it started drizzling. No big deal – afternoon showers are so common in Colorado. Once I got Danielle and we got back down to the bridge it was raining a little more. She walked across the bridge and went over to Zach. She grabbed his hands and snuggled close to him. By this time the rain had turned to hail! Danielle was a little worried about it, but then said ‘this is totally us’ and they both giggled.

Before heading back up the hill Danielle asked Zach if he was nervous and he said “not anymore.”

I love these moments… The moments that no one else sees. The moments that aren’t about the production of a wedding, but rather the love and devotion the couple shares.

I love the Scripture that Danielle and Zach chose to have read during their ceremony from the book of Ruth…

“But Ruth said, “Do not urge me to leave you or to return from following you. For where you go I will go, and where you lodge I will lodge. Your people shall be my people, and your God my God. Where you die I will die, and there will I be buried. May the LORD do so to me and more also if anything but death parts me from you.“

Ruth 1:16-17

How breathtaking is this view??

A beautiful family…

Taking portraits of the bride and groom is my favorite part of the day. It’s the only time when the bride and groom are alone and can really soak everything in. The joy that radiates during this time is contagious! I find myself smiling by the end because I am humbled by my couples love stories.

Twin Owls Steakhouse is another wonderful venue. Their food is unlike anything else and the rustic log cabin setting is perfect for a mountain wedding reception!

Some words from the groom…

How did you meet? We met through the Masons in 2013 and had our first date at a bluegrass festival June 4th 2016.
What do you enjoy to do together? We enjoy anything outdoors, especially kayaking and camping. Traveling anywhere.
How did you get engaged? We got engaged on October 15th 2017 at Oak Alley Plantation in Vacherie, Louisiana.
What made you decide to have a small wedding in CO? The views are beautiful and we wanted a small intimate ceremony with just immediate family.
Did you enjoy planning a wedding? We are more “go with the flow” type, so we just didn’t want anything too staged or formal.
Will you be going on a Honeymoon? Yes, but it’s still a secret for Danielle;)
