Paris in Photographs – A Picnic in the Park

One of my favorite things about Paris is how many incredible parks there are around every corner. I LOVE nature!! Being a Colorado girl has certainly spoiled me in this aspect. Having these small oasis’s of gigantic trees nestled within the winding streets of tall buildings makes this beautiful city all the more charming.

One of the things that has always stood out to me during my travels throughout many of the European countries that I have visited is how many people truly take the time to relax. Whether it be in a park, on a bench, in a cafe, or along side a river, they look at ease while enjoying their day. Now, don’t get me wrong I know that we have amazing parks in the US and that many people enjoy them, but it’s nothing like what I have seen in other countries.

Paris is very fast paced and there are people everywhere rushing around, but at the same time I have never seen so many people at ease in the middle of their day as they sip wine while lounging in a park. It’s like something out of a romantic comedy. I want to be more intentional about taking time to just stop and relax. To try and set aside the worries that seem to dominate my mind and to just be. Whether that’s in a park or in my living room. I want to adopt such a lifestyle of truly enjoying this beautiful life that God has blessed me with.

On this particular day we were wandering the streets of Montmartre, which is my favorite neighborhood. It’s the 18th arrondissment of Paris. Which is in the northern part of the city and consists of curvy streets that seem to all be uphill. I’m not sure how you get back down, but while walking around this beautiful area it seems you are always climbing! Anyways, one afternoon while walking around we stumbled upon this lovely very small park nestled in between the most beautiful buildings and we decided to enjoy our lunch in there.

I love just the all of the color and how massive these trees are!

I love that you can walk into one of the many boulangerie’s around Paris, pick out a deliciously fresh sandwich for 5 Euro’s, and not walk very far before you find a beautiful place to sit and relax! Maybe I am not looking in the right places, but I have never had such an experience like this in the States and I wish I could. For me, the next best thing here is to grab something at Whole Foods and head to Wash Park. Which is awesome, but doesn’t compare to sitting on a park bench in Paris.

This sandwich was amazing!
