London England
After we dropped that car off at the Heathrow Airport we took the tube to the Earls Court station and walked a few blocks to where we were staying in London! I couldn’t believe we were actually there! I had never had a strong desire to visit London, but once it was a destination on the list of stops, I started researching more and I became very excited to go!
We got in pretty late the first day and decided to call it a night and then headed out early the next morning. Ryan and I visited the British Library, wandered the streets, visited bookshops, walked along River Thames until the sun went down.
Soho was an eclectic and fun area that we stumbled upon!
The second day we played the role of tourist and visited the big spots – The National Gallery, Buckingham Palace, Big Ben, London Eye, Tower Bridge, and so on… It was an eventful day and we saw some gorgeous places!
The Portobello Road Market – Notting Hill
We researched an awesome street market that we had to visit full of beautifully colorful houses and buildings! It also happens to be the setting for the movie Notting Hill! We happened to visit on a day when the full market wasn’t set up, but it was still fun to wander around and sight see!
St. James Park
This park was unreal! It was truly magical… The way the light shined through the leaves of the trees that hung over the water – it was unlike anything I had ever seen. I loved watching how many people came to simply relax in the park. To take time out of their lives to just sit and in such a gorgeous place. We even saw a group of older men and women dressed up sitting at a table in the park playing a game. How fun is that? Too often we can get distracted with the business of our lives that we forget to just take time to sit and reflect.
It’s all in the details…
I loved all of the unique shops that lines the streets!
Our afternoon tea at The Wellington was delicious!
The National Gallery
I love art – all kinds of art! Wandering through the National Gallery was simply amazing. The building itself was gorgeous and the masterpieces it houses are incredible. Plus, the view looking out from the steps is stunning! I love the architecture of the surrounding buildings.
Daunt Books
This was our favorite bookstore that we visited in London! I loved the layout of the store. PLUS, it had to most extensive travel section I have ever seen in a bookstore – it was massive and had so many unique books!
And a few more…
An evening stroll…
Thank you, Ryan for this photo!
I really enjoyed our time in London. It was a lovely city! However, with the amount of hype that this city gets – I wasn’t as impressed as I thought I would be. That is just my personal opinion 🙂 It was an awesome time nonetheless!
Don’t miss these stops on our adventure as well!
