York England

York-England-2York England

Scotland was magical. It was incredibly enchanting and I was sad to be leaving! The green rolling hills full of fluffy sheep was such a peaceful sight. It really did create a picture of Psalm 23 for me…

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
     He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
    He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
    for his name’s sake.

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
    your rod and your staff,
    they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me
    in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
    all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
    forever.

Though we were leaving such an amazing place I was very excited about out next adventures through England! We had planned a few stops during our time there and the first was York, England!

We got up early in the morning because we were going to have to take the bus to pick up the car at the parking lot just outside of Edinburgh. Once we figured that all out, we hit the road for our very long day of driving…
The first stop on our drive was York! We drove in and found a place to drop the car and wandered our way into town. The streets were lined with beautiful old building that housed unique store fronts below. This is one of my favorite things about Europe as well – is the unique store fronts to each place, It’s not like a shopping mall where everything looks that same except the store signs,,, Each store looks completely its own and just happens to be attached to others. I love it!

There were fudge shops everywhere we walked! The smell of chocolate and sugar filled the air with the most amazing aroma. We strolled down one of the main streets called “The Shambles” … it looked like something right out of a fairy tale!

I had the most delicious scone of the trip in York at Lucky Days!! It was blueberry with orange zest and came with cream and jam! Oh my, was it delicious! I enjoyed it with a cup of Yorkshire tea.

A few hours in York did not do it justice – I would love to spend more time in this quaint little town someday!
