Are you considering a Wild Basin Lodge Wedding??
If you’re answer is yes then keep reading and your thoughts will be validated. If your answer is no… Keep reading and I will change your mind. 🙂
The short answer of why Wild Basin is my favorite venue is that I got married there. On June 1, 2012 I walked with my father down the path that leads from the lodge to the meadow in excitement at the anticipation of seeing my groom waiting for me at the end of the aisle. We had been together for 8 years before this day arrived and I couldn’t have been more ready to be a wife.
I had shot weddings for 5 years with my dad before this day. When I was 18 years old he let me start out by carrying his camera gear at events and over time that turned into me being a second shooter and in the end studio manager. I learned so many things from him over those years that spending an entire lifetime in school would never be able to teach. Now, don’t get me wrong – I am all for schooling but for me personally I learn much better by doing and this job was exactly that – learning daily as I went until 5 years later I had the ability and desire to create my own company.
Attending over 100 weddings with my dad gave us the unique advantage to being pretty darn insightful about these father/daughter moments on a wedding day. Often on the car rides home we would talk about the toasts that were given and the song choice for the father/daughter dance. Looking back now it is something I will cherish more I can express. Those car rides home after a wedding were some of our best times.
Anyways, back to my wedding day…. Walking down that aisle with my dad was a dream. It was a blur, but amazing at the same time.
The stunning scenery that makes up the Wild Basin Lodge is unlike any other wedding venue I have ever been to. The sound of the Saint Vrain River rushing by adds the most tranquil soundtrack to your wedding ceremony. The Aspen Trees that are sprinkled throughout the property create a beautiful backdrop no matter what time of year it is. The views of Mount Meeker are breathtaking. Must I go on??
If that all wasn’t enough to convince you…
Lets chat about how gorgeous the lodge itself is! They have done an amazing job at updating over the years. There is a nice balance between the mountain lodge feel and the clean and modern interior.
And BEST of all… The incredible couple who own this wonderful space. Denice and Nils are some of the kindest people I have ever met. They always welcome me with a hug and smile. Asking how I am doing and how many family is. They are genuine people who care about people.
I have photographed weddings at some venues where I am left to feel like less than. That has NEVER once been the case at Wild Basin. They treat their vendors exactly like they treat their couples… With respect and kindness.
I had been shooting at Wild Basin for many years before I had my own weddings there. My mind was pretty much made up – that I would be celebrating my day at this beautiful place. The only obstacle was convincing my groom that it should happen.. I was so nervous the entire car ride to the lodge on the very snowy February day that he wouldn’t love it as much as I did. However, when we walked through the doors and Denice immediately offer him a beer – he was sold!
